A Message from our Patron

stephen hough wirral arts festival

Earlier this year I was delighted to be able to play for you in St George’s Hall, Liverpool. We had a wonderful afternoon marking the first five years of Heswall Arts Festival. Time has passed so quickly.

In 2011 I wrote to you As someone born in Heswall I was delighted to be asked to be Patron of the Arts Festival and to be associated with this splendid Community undertaking……It promises to be a most auspicious beginning to a new stage in the advancement of the Arts on Wirral. This has truly come to fruition as now from 2016 the original organization will become the Wirral Arts Festival offering even greater opportunities and entertainment for many more people and businesses.

The eclectic programme for this October embraces all of the traditional art forms as well as the hugely popular Engineering and Science days, but now there is added ‘The Art of the Law’ and a day devoted to Environment and Habitat. The Scarecrows are returning, you can follow In the Footsteps of Shackleton, and can hear the beguiling voices of Exordium in concert. It’s a hugely varied lineup.  My thanks go to the organisers for all of their devoted, voluntary work and I send best wishes to you all for a great Festival.
