A few years ago a Roll of Honour, pictured above, was found in the cellar of Trinity with Palm Grove Church. It has since been framed and now hangs on the wall of the church. This concert, 1914-18 a Programme of Music, Words and Art, is an exploration of the Arts during the World War 1 period. The concert is to honour the memory of the people on the Roll and to remember the sacrifice they made for us.
There will be poetry by Wilfred Owen, Prelude a L’Apres Midi d’un Faune by Debussy played on the flute, clarinet and piano and a talk on the art of Paul Nash. There will be people sharing their family history of the period covering the Battle of the Somme and the Suffragettes. Songs from World War 1 and the Suffragettes will be performed by the Choir 4 Life.
There will be an opportunity to see the Roll of Honour and there will be a talk about it. The choir will sing We Will Remember Them by Elgar and The Last Post will be played.
There will be refreshments and a raffle in the interval. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible. The money from the ticket sales is going towards the churches Roof Fund.
