First established in February 1949, the band is probably the oldest in the UK to still be playing regularly. We are strong believers that our music should entertain and this has always been band policy, whether at home or abroad, Southport or Sacramento. The music varies from New Orleans, via San Francisco to the UK.
Over the years the band has met and played with a great number of jazz stars, including Louis Armstrong, many of whom have become good friends.
The current personnel is John Higham – trumpet; Peter Fryer – trombone; Dave Dixson – reeds; Malcolm Hogarth – piano; Dave Rigby – guitar/banjo; Isabel Toner – bass; Pete Darwin – drums.
Tickets available from Linghams bookshop and band members.
