The Wirral Arts Festival is thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new series of intimate classical concerts in the unrivalled setting of the late Lord Leverhulme’s 1902 Music Room in Thornton Manor. This stunning and unique entertainment room is surrounded by its spectacular wall panelling, carvings, elaborate plaster work and period paintings by Giovanni Cipriani, it will simply take your breath away.
Arrival and reception from 6.45pm
you will be greeted with music by the “Hillcrest Ensemble”, a welcome drink and canapes whilst you take a stroll around the grounds or inspect parts of the beautiful house
Concert commences at 7.45pm
featuring three soloists appearing by kind permission of Welsh National Opera together with international concert pianist John Gough. Our singers a highly sought-after Trio founded in 1999 and named Volante, will perform some of the best-known items from the world of grand opera and musical theatre.
Baritone Julian Boyce is well known to our concert audiences in St George’s Hall, Liverpool having sung a magnificent Pagliacci with Orchestra dell’Arte last season. He will be joined by tenor Simon Crosby Buttle and soprano Emma Mary Llewellyn for a programme which includes music by composers Gershwin, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Romberg and Rossini.
